Gotham fans have plenty to look forward to in the new year. LEGO has revealed three new DC sets landing on 1 January 2027, covering everything from a quick, budget-friendly build to a striking piece of wall art for the grown-up collector. Here is what is on the way.
Release Date: 1st January 2027
Price: AUD89.99
Pieces: 672
Minifigures: 2
This set heads back to Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, and it brings two iconic vehicles with it. The sleek, long-nosed Batmobile measures around 20 cm long and can be transformed into the Batmissile, just like the scene where Batman squeezes through a narrow Gotham alleyway.
Alongside it is The Penguin’s rubber duck vehicle. Its wing doors open so The Penguin minifigure can climb inside, and the wings and head can be posed for display. The Penguin also comes with his trademark umbrella, while Batman takes the wheel of the Batmobile.
For anyone who grew up with the Keaton films, this one is sure to be a favourite. It would also look fantastic as part of a Gotham City layout.
Release Date: 1st January
Price: AUD44.99
Pieces: 317
Fans of the Arkham video games will recognise this one straight away. The chunky, armoured design of the Arkham Batmobile has been captured in a compact 317-piece build, measuring around 16 cm long, 8 cm wide and 7 cm high.
It is more than a shelf piece, too. The car has working suspension, so it can bounce its way over rough terrain during play, and a removable rear panel reveals a hidden storage compartment. A Batman minifigure is included to take the driver’s seat.
At under $45, this looks like a great entry point for younger fans, or an easy pick-up for collectors who want to add another Batmobile to the garage.
Release Date: 1st January 2027
Price: AUD259.99
Pieces: 1,849
The biggest of the three is aimed squarely at adult fans. This LEGO Art piece recreates the famous cover of Detective Comics #880 from 2011, with The Joker’s face filling the frame.
What makes it stand out is the layered, three-dimensional build. The eyes and other features sit forward from the background, giving the piece real depth on the wall. Look closely and you will spot hidden details worked into the design, including Batarangs, swords, flowers and The Joker’s signature laugh.
The finished artwork measures around 51 cm high and 38 cm wide, and can be hung on the wall or stood on a shelf. Pre-orders are open now on LEGO.com, with orders dispatching from 1 January 2027. There is a limit of three per household.
Both Batmobile sets include a Golden Red Brick code that unlocks a gold effect for characters and vehicles in the LEGO Batman™: Legacy of the Dark Knight video game. The Batman Returns set also unlocks a gold version of its Batmobile as a Batcave prop in the game.
Between a classic film Batmobile, a fan-favourite game design and a bold piece of comic art, there is something here for every kind of Batman fan. We will be chatting about these sets on Talk n Sort, live every Tuesday night at 8pm on our Instagram and YouTube, so come along and let us know which one you are adding to your collection..
