A family boat trip, a coin-eating Pixiu and a Prosperity Lion. Here's what's coming on 1 January 2027 for Lunar New Year.
The LEGO Lunar New Year 2027 sets have just been revealed, and all three arrive on 1 January. LEGO releases a few sets in time for Lunar New Year every year. This time it falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, and it's the Year of the Goat, so there's plenty of time to build them before the celebrations start.
There's a big minifigure playset, a display model and a smaller lion that's an easy add-on. They're all in the red, gold and teal that this range is known for.
Set 80123
This is the one I keep going back to. It's a traditional sailing boat carrying a whole family out for a New Year's meal on the water, and it looks fantastic.
There are seven minifigures: mum, dad, a son and a daughter, grandma and grandpa, plus a minifigure in a Year of the Goat costume with a new goat mask. They can sit around the dinner table on the deck. The sail carries an inscription meaning "Smooth Sailing", a wish for a year of prosperity and abundance.
It's a playset as well as a display piece. The roof and the side of the hull come off to show the kitchen, there's a top compartment hiding coins and red packets, and the oars row as you push the boat along. That's a nice touch for younger builders, and it's the sort of function I'd happily play with too. Built, the boat is about 30 cm tall and 36 cm long.

Set 80122
This year's display model continues the "Auspicious" series that started with 80112 Auspicious Dragon. The Pixiu is a creature from Chinese mythology that's said to attract and protect wealth, and here it sits beneath a fortune tree.
The best part is a fun little function. You can feed the Pixiu coins from the tree, then open its back to collect them. The Pixiu also comes off the base and has a few points of movement, so you can pose it. There are no minifigures in this one. It's about 21 cm tall and 23 cm wide.
LEGO's US price is US$79.99. Jay's Brick Blog has reported AU$109.99, but it isn't on LEGO's Australian site yet, so we'll confirm it closer to release.

Set 40976
The smallest of the three is a 411-piece model of the lion you'll see at Lunar New Year celebrations. It would sit nicely beside the 2026 set 40915 Lion Dance.
It's a compact, brick-built dance lion, about 15.3 cm tall and 8.5 cm wide, in red, white and gold with big round eyes. It holds a red scroll in its mouth and comes with a pair of red and gold scrolls to stand beside it. It's rated 9+ and is a regular set at US$29.99. LEGO hasn't listed the Australian price yet.
More of the Prosperity Lion

For me, the Spring Festival Voyage is the standout. I love the look of it: the shape of the boat, the colours, the sail and a whole family on board for the New Year's meal. It works as a display piece, and the rowing oars and hidden compartments make it fun to play with too.
The Pixiu is a lovely display model, and the coin-feeding function is a clever bit of design. The Prosperity Lion is a fun, affordable build, and it would look great on a desk or shelf for the new year.
Which one are you after? Let us know in the comments, or bring it up on Talk n Sort on Tuesday night. And while you wait for January, check out our LEGO® advent calendar countdown.
