Heartlake the Musical: Every Builder Has Their Own Journey
At Rainbow Bricks we often say that every builder is on their own journey. Some start with sets and move on to MOCs, and others jump straight into building their own creations. So it felt fitting that LEGO's newest Friends special is all about someone finding their way in a new world.
Heartlake the Musical follows Daisy, a new character who is whisked into Heartlake City by a mysterious key. While she searches for a way home, she gets caught up in a mission to save a legendary treehouse with her new friends.
Daisy works well as a fresh face. What I enjoyed most is that she doesn't just focus on getting herself home. She gives back to the friends who help her along the way, which is a nice message for younger viewers.
There are only four original songs. The trailer gives very little away, so I was keen to hear what they were like. They're catchy tunes, and I didn't mind them at all.
Visually, the oversized LEGO elements are a highlight, and the sets look great on screen. Several of them are real Friends sets, and I've built 41748 Heartlake City Community Centre, which has featured in our displays at Newcastle Brickfest. It's always fun seeing a set you've built come to life on screen.
As a dad, I used to watch The Adventures of Clutch Powers with my son over and over again. Years later, it's still something we talk about. These films aren't just entertainment. They're a chance to build a bond with our kids. While a middle-aged man isn't the target audience for Heartlake the Musical, if I had a daughter or granddaughter, I'd happily sit down and watch it with her. Who knows what memories it might start?
