Grand Final Fever: Matt N.'s Stadium Tribute 🔴🔵

There is an electric buzz across the Hunter today. The red and blue flags are flying high from balconies, car aerials, and shop fronts as our Newcastle Knights prepare to run out for tonight’s NRL Grand Final.

For Rainbow Bricks member Matt N., that infectious energy provided the perfect spark to tackle a massive creative challenge. After a couple of quiet years away from large-scale builds due to moving house, Matt decided to dust off his brick collection and craft a spectacular home ground tribute in support of the Knights' premiership charge.

"At the end of the day it was an opportunity to build a large-scale MOC, as it's been a couple of years and I missed the opportunity to exhibit recently due to moving. I saw this as an opportunity to show my support and get back into building again." – Matt N.

Matt admits he’s originally an AFL supporter—his beloved Essendon Bombers had a tough run with the wooden spoon this season—but ever since relocating to the Newcastle region in 2021, he has gladly adopted the Knights as a quiet supporter. Seeing the community come together around the team inspired him to dive straight back into what he loves doing most: snapping bricks together.

Like every great custom layout, Matt's stadium is a masterclass in builder resourcefulness. Rather than waiting on hundreds of new parts to arrive in the post, he repurposed the grass hill section and portions of the grandstand straight out of his former drag racing display! The rest of the build was designed and built entirely from scratch.

Win or lose tonight, Matt’s project is a brilliant reminder of why we build. It’s about celebrating where we live, finding our creative rhythm again, and sharing the fun with those around us.
