Rainbow Bricks LUG: Community Code of Conduct
At Rainbow Bricks, we’re all about sharing our passion for LEGO, putting on brilliant displays like Newcastle Brickfest, and raising funds for our charity partners. To ensure our LUG remains a safe, supportive, and fun environment for all of us, we ask everyone to follow these simple community guidelines.
1. Our Core Values (How We Build Together)
- Build Each Other Up: Sharing a build is a personal and subjective experience. Always be supportive, shower each other with encouragement, and ensure any critiques are positively constructive.
- Brick-Inclusive: We are a diverse family. We welcome everyone regardless of background, appearance, or identity. Treat all members and the public with absolute respect and civility.
- Keep It Family-Friendly: Because our events attract families and kids, we expect all interactions, language, and builds to be appropriate for all ages.
2. The Ground Rules
To keep the peace and protect the community, the following rules apply across all our online channels and in-person events:
- Keep Secrets Safe: Discussion of LUGBulk prices is strictly prohibited outside of designated LUGBulk channels.
- Leave Controversy at the Door: We respect that members have diverse opinions, but our LUG is about LEGO. Controversial topics, including political debates and religion, are not allowed. Furthermore, please do not use Rainbow Bricks events to promote personal or controversial positions.
- Zero Tolerance: Hate speech, discriminatory language, profanity, slurs, bullying, harassment, and spamming/scamming are strictly forbidden.
3. Sorting Things Out (Reporting & Consequences)
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches these guidelines or makes you feel uncomfortable, we want to hear about it so we can help.
How to Report an Issue:
- Reach out directly: Contact a member of the Rainbow Bricks leadership team either via a private message online or by speaking to them privately at a group meeting or public event.
- What happens next: The leadership team will act as an uninvolved, neutral third party. We will arrange a private meeting with the involved individuals to mediate the situation, clear up any misunderstandings, and repair the relationship.
Consequences:
Failing to follow these guidelines will have consequences to protect the broader community. Depending on the severity of the issue, this can range from a friendly reminder or a mediated chat, up to a temporary suspension or permanent removal from Rainbow Bricks.
By participating in Rainbow Bricks LUG, both online and at our charity events, you agree to uphold these values and help us keep our community stacking in harmony!
