What We Do

Nestled in the vibrant Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Mid-North Coast, and Central Coast regions of New South Wales, Rainbow Bricks shines as a welcoming haven for LEGO® enthusiasts. As a Recognised LEGO User Group (RLUG) officially going strong since August 2013, we're more than just builders—we're a thriving community united by a shared passion for the LEGO® brick.

At our core, we are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to cultivating camaraderie and collaborative building experiences. We provide a safe, engaging space for Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs) to connect, share their enthusiasm, and forge lasting friendships through:

  • Weekly Zoom Meetings, Monthly LUG meetings and informal social gatherings.
  • Stimulating building challenges and contests.
  • Collaborative display building and display layouts.

Our Brickfest Events & Charitable Impact

At the heart of our community spirit are our eight annual "Brickfest" LEGO® Fan Events, held across the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, and Mid-North Coast. Our flagship event, Newcastle Brickfest, held during the September school holidays, stands as a highlight of our calendar, drawing LEGO® fans and families from across Australia.

These events are far more than just showcases of remarkable individual and collaborative LEGO® creations. Critically, every brick laid contributes to a significant regional cause. As a proud Not-for-Profit LUG, our event profits are generously donated back to local community charity partners.

$55,000 Total Donated in 2025 Alone

Through the incredible support of our builders and public visitors over the years, Rainbow Bricks has successfully raised and donated over $500,000 to regional causes. This includes a landmark year in 2025 where we donated $55,000 to our charity partners, anchored by our ongoing, long-standing flagship support of the John Hunter Children's Hospital Kids Club.

How We Operate

To ensure Rainbow Bricks remains a responsive, fair, and welcoming environment, our group is guided by a streamlined 5-person leadership team. We intentionally avoid complex, unnecessary bureaucracy, allowing us to make quick, effective decisions that benefit our members and community partners alike. Our structure consists of:

  • President: Leading day-to-day operations and driving the overarching community vision and project plans.
  • Community Ambassador: Serves as our dedicated official liaison, managing core communication flows and representing Rainbow Bricks within the global LEGO® Ambassador Network.
  • Senior Committee: Three of our long-standing senior members serve in a informal advisory role to consult on major group decisions and annual event logistics.

While we prefer to keep things simple, we take the safety and comfort of our members seriously and maintain a safe, inclusive environment through our Community Code of Conduct.
