Rainbow Bricks Presents
NEWCASTLE BRICKFEST 2019
A LEGO Fan Event

Rainbow Bricks is excited to be returning again in 2019!

Newcastle Brickfest is Newcastle's first and longest running LEGO Fan event. It’s a community event, created by local volunteer LEGO fans, for LEGO Fans of all ages, showcasing LEGO creations and collections from across NSW.

Once again we are supporting Hunter Schools and Charities with the proceeds from this family friend, community event.

Original creations and displays of LEGO themes will impress and inspire kids of all ages. Interact with the exhibitors, ask them about their displays and LEGO in general. Plus we will have the always popular City Layout back again with working trains. As well as, all the displays, there will be lots of activities for everyone to enjoy on the day.

This year we have added Saturday afternoon sessions for those of you who can’t make it on the Sunday.

We are also being joined by our Cosplaying friends from the Hunter Heroes, the Saurus Squad and Star Wars Characters!

This is a family friend, not for profit event, which has been supporting Newcastle charities. Over the previous 5 years we have been able to donated $50,000 to schools and charities Newcastle Brickfest has supported.

LUG Activity Day

March 14th, 2018

On Sunday 11th March we held a LUG Activity Day where members of Rainbow Bricks got together and built. We also held a workshop on making your own lights for your LEGO creations. As well as a show and tell session where members brought along some of their new creations for us to enjoy and provide feedback.

For the building we used a range of the Building Bigger Thinking 60th anniversary LEGO sets to build from. These sets each have a number of builds included in the instruction book plus more instructions are avialable to download from the LEGO website. The sets are full of great colours and parts to help those with the imagination to build beyond the instructions. Each set includes a 60th Anniversary tile. The builds are inventive and fun including a space ship, unicorn, castle, parrot and of course our favourite a Rainbow! There are 5 sets in the theme and they range in price from $7 [85 pieces] to $59 [871 pieces] for the largest set. Big W and Kmart both stock these sets and are usually the same price which is less than RRP.

We started by building a number of instructed builds for taking photos and the members really enough building those. But once we had finished building some of the sets the members really started to create their own builds, some being modification of an instructed build while others were built from scratch. What Will You Build from these sets?

The day went way too fast as happens when you are building!

REVIEW: MidCoast Brickfest 2018

March 9th, 2018

Thank You to everyone who came along to Rainbow Bricks' event MidCoast Brickfest on Sunday. It was a great success with the profits going to the hard working Halliday’s Point Public School P&C.

Around 2000 visitors came through the doors to see that the builders had brought to display. The children were also treated to a free build area and a Speed Build Competition which was very popular!

Of course the event would also not be possible without the exhibitors and their wonderful creations. None of the exhibitors are paid they are all volunteers donating their time and energy to help out the event charities/schools.

We hope you enjoyed the day. Tell us which you enjoyed the most was it the exhibits, the Build Area or the Speed Build Competition. Did you go home and build? :-)

We look forward to seeing you again.

LEGO CITY 60171 Mountain Fugitives: Creative Activity

February 21st, 2018

CREATIVE ACTIVITY

Over the last few weeks Rainbow Bricks members have been having fun with LEGO City set 60171 Mountain Fugitives.
There are some nice new parts in this particular set plus it’s not too expensive if you wanted to do something similar. Kmart and Big W sell it for $10.

The guidelines for this challenge were:
Only use the pieces from this set
Only 1 set per build.
You can build whatever you like using as many or as little of the pieces as you like.
And remember, have FUN with your creations!

Here are the results. Some tell a story while others built an item. It's not as easy as you think when only have parts from one set. 😊
